Perhaps it’s from his days in Florida or just his love of the beach. Richard loves painting surfboards - especially vintage boards! Yes, these are real surfboards - reclaimed, recycled and made into real works of art! Perfect for beach lovers anywhere - including those of us who just wish we were on the beach!

The process of painting a surfboard is no easy task. Finding a vintage board that someone wants to part with is the first task - and sometimes the hardest. While most of the surfboards you see here are vintage, not all are. But they are definitely past their prime! Once the board is found, the layers of wax are carefully removed and any dents are repaired before the process of applying paint can happen. On some boards the back is painted as well in a solid color. In that case, Richard leaves the original signature (if there was one) and adds his as the artist. Once the painting is complete, a protective varnish is applied to keep the paintings looking crisp for years to come!

Unfortunately the surfing days are in the past for these boards. They are meant to be hung on the wall and come ready to hang with wire backing!
